 DUNDEE HILLS WINE EXPERIENCE
August 26, 6 to 9 p.m.
WHERE: The Leftbank Annex, Portland
The magnificent Dundee Hills AVA producers take their act to Portland to pour their wines and pair them with bites from Dundee Hills restaurants like Farm to Fork and Press Wine Bar. This one is billed as "The Founders, the Legends, and the Rising Stars" as the area shows off its history that put these wines on the international map in the '70s, with participation by favorites like Archery Summit, Vista Hills and The Four Graces. $45 in advance; $50 at the door.
UNCOMMON WINE FESTIVAL
September 4, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WHERE: Vista Hills Winery, Dundee
What's so uncommon? The wines poured (and sold) are from tiny producers like Isabelle Dutartre's 1789 Wines, Stevenson-Barrie and Rival Wines, with some wonderful finds that are hard to get. Great way to start a day of wine touring in the Valley. Free.
CHEHALEM MOUNTAINS WINEGROWERS OPEN HOUSES
September 4-6, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
WHERE: Chehalem Mountains wineries between Newberg and Carlton
The member wineries of this association, which include the likes of Adelsheim Vineyards and ArborBrook Vineyards, are opening their doors for the Labor Day weekend. Some great finds, like Anam Cara Cellars, which is rarely open to the public and will be pouring out of their garage. Tasting fees vary by location.
OREGON WINE COUNTRY HALF-MARATHON (AND PARTY)
September 5, starts at 9:15 a.m.
WHERE: Ken Wright Cellars parking lot, Carlton
The first-ever half-marathon in Oregon wine country is shaping up to be a huge party. Runners start at Stoller Vineyards and head to Carlton; you might just be jogging alongside a famous winemaker like Scott Paul Wright. A wine-tasting open to the public runs from 9:15 a.m. to noon, but the party will undoubtedly last all day, with food and music and lots of thirsty runners. $20.
REMY WINES HARVEST CELEBRATION
September 11 & 12, 12 to 5 p.m.
WHERE: Remy Wines, 905 NE 10th Ave., McMinnville
Remy Drabkin's warehouse winery is rarely open for events, and this time she teams up with neighbor Heater-Allen Brewery for a fun weekend of brews, BBQ, music and her delicious, Italian-varietal reds. She'll be pouring samples of her 2007 Lagrein, which is reason enough to celebrate; great prices on her Pinot Gris and Remy's Red blend, too. $5 or two cans of food for the Yamhill County Food Bank.
R. STUART & CO.'s HARVEST VINEYARD WALK & ALFRESCO LUNCH
September 19, 10 a.m.
WHERE: Temperance Hill Vineyard, Eola Hills (call for directions)
Winemaker Rob Stuart will lead a tour of two vineyards and talk about what he looks for in the fruit at this critical juncture of the growing season, followed by a delightful outdoor lunch. Great opportunity to mix education and pleasure (provided by fine Pinot Noir wines). $80; reservations required.
